There may be things not to admire about Joe Rogan but I'm not concerned with those.

The things to admire are many

The first thing to admire is he listens.

A second thing is he is well informed.

A third thing is he actually reads books- up to date books. He engages with intelligent people intelligently.

A fourth thing is he is intellectually curious. He wants to learn.

A fifth thing is he lets conversations unroll organically. He doesn't hustle his guests. He gives them time and space. If a conversation engages him it can go on for over three hours.

A sixth thing is he is willing to platform speakers who may find it hard to get a platform elsewhere- because they are too unfashionable, way out and radical for the mainstream.

Some of these things may be the same thing expressed in slightly different words. Nevermind.

I just finished watching the JRE 1897- with Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock. They talk about alternative archaeology, new technology, psychedelics, geology, Atlantis, catastrophism, politics. They were riding a big, big wave- carrying us, their listeners with them, and the wave is gathering height and force and any moment it will break and scour the beach. I think posterity will look back on JRE 1897 and say, "This was an event of historical importance".
