The Rickman Diaries
Sep. 24th, 2022 10:07 am The Guardian prints Harry Potter-related snippets from Alan Rickman's diaries. They're not particularly revealing (he's nice about almost everybody) but still fascinating because he moves in an enchanted world of celebrity. There's a telling moment when he goes to a party at Ruby Wax's which mixes players with non-players and its not clear which is which- and everybody is ill at ease because they're not sure who they should be schmoozing and who they should be patronising. The best anecdote has John Major thanking him "for giving us so much pleasure" and Alan, before he can censor himself, snaps back with, "Pity I can't say the same about you." John Major laughs.
