My Mother Calls
Aug. 5th, 2022 08:39 am My mother calls. It's 8.20- a couple of hours before her carers are due. I dissuade her from getting up. There's a shriek: "But I want to get up!" Then she subsides and, forgetting we were at odds, says, "Thank you."
Four more nights till we hand over responsibility.
It's going to be another hot day. The water company is imposing a hosepipe ban a week from today. I can't think what it's waiting for. We imposed the ban on ourselves a while back and I'm only watering (with a can) such plants as I judge to be particularly in need of it.
I keep abreast of developments in the world of high politics, but I'm not going to comment except in generalities. I see foolish people behaving foolishly- with nothing to choose between them.
