Bad Council

A bumblebee scrabbles about in the bell of a field poppy which is tossing about in the breeze. It makes me think of an eighteenth century sailor clinging to the top of the mast while the ship plunges and rolls.

Anyway, I'm happy to see it. I'm not seeing nearly as many bees here as we did at the farm.

Eastbourne Council is in trouble with residents for mowing its verges. Maybe that's got something to do with the lack of pollinators.
