Adjusting To A New Environment
Apr. 15th, 2022 08:02 amThe previous owners liked mirrors. There are two mirrors, one big, one not so big, fixed to the wall in the front bedroom, while the back bedroom- which is where Ailz and I sleep- has huge, mirror-fronted, built-in wardrobes facing the bed; we find them oppressive.
Who is that bulky, ape-like figure shambling through the bedroom door?
Oh, I see....
Is that how I look to other people?
Bother.
We'd booked a company to come in and advise us about bedroom furniture- with a view to replacing the built in wardrobes- but after our experience with the salesman earlier this week we've cancelled the appointment. We need to be very clear in our heads about what we want and how much we're prepared to pay before we lay ourselves open to suggestion.
Mostly I like the way this house is set up- and the bits I don't like? Well I can ignore them. After all most of the time I'm in the bedroom I have my eyes shut.
I usually delegate tasks that involve following printed instructions but yesterday I set up our new BT TV box all by myself- and feel like bragging. To celebrate I watched Edgar Wright's Baby Driver- delightful movie- which features that great actor Kevin Spacey in one of his final roles before the shadow fell. I've said it before but it bears repeating, "I miss Kevin Spacey."
