In The Exclusion Zone
Dec. 27th, 2021 09:48 amI seem to be sleeping a little better, getting up fewer times in the night. Perhaps I'm just dog-tired.
I walked round the upper field in the dark last night because it had stopped raining and I needed the exercise. I carried a torch, but the torch needs recharging so its light was dim. I could have managed without it, I know my way, though if I hadn't had it I might have walked into a few dead thistles. The ground was very boggy.
I quite like the exclusion zone around Christmas, the way it's set up to prevent things from happening. On the other hand I'd quite like to be getting on with the fun business of buying a house.
I'm doing a jig-saw puzzle of William Morris's Tree of Life Tapestry. It's the hardest I've ever set my mind on completing. What a great man Morris was! What a complete all-rounder! The jig-saw is a quality job, mounted on wood and made in China. What it says on the box is "Live Tree".
I'm beginning to see articles, watch podcasts which dare to suggest that the pandemic may be entering its final phase. Some brave souls are even saying it's over. I look forward to the debriefing. I expect some who have been riding high over the past couple of years to be thoroughly and humiliatingly debriefed- the better to have their fat white bottoms smacked.
David Tennant's Round the World in 80 Days is fun. I think I'll stick with it. Episode One involved communards in Paris, Episode Two had a train being driven over a broken bridge...
I don't understand why Tennant isn't as big a star as- say- Benedict Cumberbatch.
