Veni, Veni
Dec. 21st, 2021 09:18 amWe had an offer on the house but it was way below the guide price (which is set by the estate agent and is meant to represent the bare minimum that will be accepted) so we turned it down. A couple of the punters who viewed the property at the weekend are reported to be considering their options. Another viewing is scheduled for lunchtime today.
I'd like to move but I'm not impatient to move. I can wait....
I'm always happy when we reach the Solstice and know that we've put the shortest day and the longest night behind us. Christmas Day ought really to have been pegged to the Solstice and I don't know why it wasn't- or perhaps I did once and have since forgotten. I do know that the date of Christmas wasn't fixed until well into the Christian era- and that the early Christians weren't that bothered about it. I remember it being vogueish a while back to claim that Jesus was actually born in April- though how anyone could be sure of that I've no idea. I think it may have had something to do with astrology.
Veni, veni, Emmanuel
Captivum Solve Israel
Qui gemit in exilio
Privatus Dei filio.
Gaude, gaude, Emmanuel
Nascetur pro te, Israel...
