The Bright Side

One of the positive things about an impending election is that governments start thinking rather less about how to please themselves and the people they went to school with and rather more about pleasing the electorate. We know it won't last- and the promises won't necessarily hold- but all the same good things can happen. For instance, the government has suddenly- and as it seems out of the blue- announced a ban on fracking- which is wonderful.

After The Storm

Kristina came in last night and said, "It's like a war zone out there." I thought she meant the wind and the effects of the wind but what she actually meant were fireworks. I'd barely noticed them myself. I used to live in the Asian district of a northern town and fireworks were a year-round phenomenon.

After the storm the sun comes out. It's mild, it's almost balmy- and I've been sweeping up leaves which is a soothing thing to do.
