Going Soft

Fine crop of fungus round the old chestnut tree. I've been admiring it but Matthew shakes his head and says it means the tree is going all soft and is ready to come down. Oh dear, I'll miss it.

There are two ways of doing this. Either we let nature take its course and risk the tree taking out a lot of other trees when it falls or Matthew does the job scientifically. No choice really.

Still, it'll be one hell of a bonfire.
