Chant For The Midsummer Solstice
Jun. 21st, 2014 10:38 amChant For the Midsummer Solstice
The sun stands still in the height of heaven,
All things must pass away
The days of summer stretch ahead,
All things must pass away
Welcome the days of flowers and fruit,
All things must pass away.
Welcome the days of leisure and love,
All things must pass away.
Now is the wedding of earth and heaven,
All things must pass away.
The sun stands still in the height of heaven,
All things must pass away
The days of summer stretch ahead,
All things must pass away
Welcome the days of flowers and fruit,
All things must pass away.
Welcome the days of leisure and love,
All things must pass away.
Now is the wedding of earth and heaven,
All things must pass away.
If the universe was a fire we'd be the little flames that flicker round the untouched wood. And if it were an ocean we'd be the spume at the outflung edges of the incoming tide.
And just as all the flames are one fire and all the waves one ocean so we are all of us particles of the one universe- and have lived at its heart and will return there.
And just as all the flames are one fire and all the waves one ocean so we are all of us particles of the one universe- and have lived at its heart and will return there.
