A Minor Gripe

The worst thing about washing clothes by hand is not having a spin-cycle. What I need right now- and I doubt if you can buy them (except in junk shops)- is a mangle.  

The Electricians: Day 3

Khalid, the chief electrician, went up into the attic and came down with a sad face. "There is so much up there," he said. I explained that it was mostly stuff my sons had dumped on me and were unlikely ever to reclaim and he could treat it with the disrespect it deserved. Then he and I and went up together and moved everything against the far wall- leaving him space to work in- and he was very much happier. 

The wall gouging is finished downstairs and is about to commence upstairs. I've been reading Walter Isaacson's biography of Einstein. It's very accessible, but I don't suppose I'll ever understand what E=MC2 really means- as I have a brain that goes woolgathering at the merest hint of an equation. I like Einstein.  He was a mensch.
