One Of Those Silly Little Things
Nov. 14th, 2019 09:10 amAfter he'd installed our new cooker the man said he'd turn everything on to burn off the coating the makers put on the metal.
Did he check to see if the instruction booklet was under the grill?
No.
And it was.
"Let it run for about half an hour," he said.
By the time the smell got to us he was long gone. I opened the grill and the billow of acrid smoke drove me from the room.
If the booklet hadn't been wrapped in plastic things wouldn't have been so bad. The plastic has melted onto the floor of the top oven and formed a close bond. We put a couple of ice packs on it overnight to make it brittle. This morning I've been scraping.
