I Thought We'd Missed The Snow. Wrong.

They kept Ailz on the HDU most of yesterday. That wasn't so much because of her condition, but because the staff were run off their feet. The guy in the next bed was confused and restless and they had to have someone at his side every minute of the day to stop him climbing out and hurting himself.

I want to put it on record that the staff on the HDU at the Royal Oldham Hospital are fabulous.

When I visited in the evening, they'd finally moved Ailz downstairs onto a general ward- and into a more relaxed atmosphere.

She's tired and beat up, but she feels like she's been given a new start. She's keen to get out and discover what the rest of her life is going to be about.

This morning it's snowing.

High Dependency Unit- it's one step below Intensive Care.

Snow. It makes everything clean and new, until traffic gets started.

Sort of like Ailz, a clean new start.

Exactly.

Not wanting to sound too melodramatic, but she was talking last night about feeling she'd been "reborn".

I'm really glad.

Thanks.

She's just had her first meal in nearly a week and is heading for her first shower....

Your post has made me very happy this morning.

Such crises, while awful, can make life and love so fresh again.

And snow, too!

Thinking of you both. I'm taking Mother shopping this morning and will look for a just-right card for my friend Ailz.

Love from Jackie

That's lovely.

I know Ailz would be overjoyed to get a card from you.

I'm so glad this all turned out all right. I'm still keeping you two in my prayers. I wish it would snow here, but the temps are close to sixty (F) today.

Thanks.

The snow is rather nice. A diversion, as it were....

Wow, what a week it must have been for the pair of you! It's lovely to know that Ailz feels so positive after such a serious ordeal -- I imagine that some people have a completely opposite reaction. Continue to take care, & keep us informed. Again, it's appreciated =)

& it was proper swirling snow, too! With the added bonus that only an hour later, there's none of the cold/slipping/hazardous driving consequences.

The snow has settled here. My sister in law's car slid across the road when we were on our way to the hospital yesterday- luckily we were travelling very slowly at the time.

I've just seen the photo you have taken, too!
You're only 30 miles(ish) away from me here in Warrington. I guess this time we experienced similar weather to Liverpool.

Travel safely.

We're up in the hills, so we tend to get colder, more extreme weather than you people of the plains. :)

I was away and missed a lot of the reports about this, but I'm so glad she came through and is on the mend now. Peace and joy to you.

Hi Al,

We heard this morning that Ailz is going to be in hospital for a bit yet. We were hoping for a discharge on Wednesday, but that's not going to happen now.

Thanks for the invite. That would have been really nice, but we're not going to be fit for it, I'm afraid.

J has a gig at the Night and Day, right? Excellent!

Love,

Dad

Thanks.

I'll pass the hug on to Ailz :)
