The fields are drying out, though the lower one is still so waterlogged that I wouldn't want to cross it without boots. The daffodils and narcissi are dying back and the chestnut trees are "in tiny leaf" as Browning has it. Blackthorn is in flower along the roads and magnolia in the gardens- including ours. It's a chilly morning after a chilly night but the sun is shining in a pale blue sky. The clouds are insignificant...
