A large, handsome church interior: The plastered ceiling of the chancel- which dates to around 1600- is unusual- and rather lovely.

I'd have guessed early 17th century for the plasterwork.
I'd imagine those are carvings not mouldings
A friend of ours lives in a cottage built in 1599 which has similar carved plaster work.

I'd never thought about how they did plasterwork in the 17th century. Wouldn't moulding make more sense for a repetitive pattern like this?

The sort of plasterwork you're more likely to see in a country house than a church.
