The move from 2018 to 2019 means we're out from under the shadow of the Great War. No more centenaries of peculiarly horrible battles- or at least not for another 96 years- by which time we may have other things on our minds.
Well, no. But WWII has a different vibe. The allied nations look back on WWII as "their finest hour" whereas WWI is mostly viewed as tragic and wasteful and futile.
