Love You Guys
Oct. 5th, 2018 08:43 amI dreamed I was going on a sea voyage- probably crossing The Channel- with Arthur Conan Doyle and Rudyard Kipling- both of them wrapped up Edwardian-style in caps and mufflers and heavy overcoats and neither of them looking very much like themselves.
"I love you guys," said Ruddy.
"I've been reading you both," I replied.
And what I'd been reading in particular would seem to have been Kipling's story "Without Benefit of Clergy"- the one about the Imperial administrator who takes a young Muslim girl as his mistress and then finds himself living a double life- because that's what I found myself thinking about when I woke up.
