Black Out

My mother went into hospital yesterday morning after blacking out in the bathroom. She went through a battery of tests and it turns out she's in wonderful shape physically- except that she's got an abscess in her lower jaw.

She was perfectly happy when I left her on the ward last night. She had long since forgotten the black out. She lives in the moment. Nothing fazes her.

I hope the abscess can be sorted with the minimum pain, and that she's back home soon.

Oddly enough the hospital doesn't have a dental service. They aim to clear up the infection with antibiotics- after which we'll need to get her to a dentist.

Yes, they do seem to operate as entirely separate services - with your mother's case showing up why that doesn't always reflect human reality.

We used to have general hospitals, but now they're encouraged to specialise.
