The lighting strike- or strikes- that blew our electrics- also decapitated a conifer on the neighbour's back lawn and completely fritzed the electrics that control their front gates. Their house alarm went on moaning for as long as it did because the system doesn't have an "off" button- and a man had to be sent for from London (in the middle of the night) to disable and re-set the system.

Our four year old grand-daughter- who is visiting us with her parents- and staying in a caravan at Winchelsea Beach- managed to sleep through it all.
