poliphiloI looked out the window in the middle of the night to admire the snow and there was a great shaggy beast on the lawn.
"Morning, Reynard".
I hadn't switched a light on but it seemed to sense it was under observation and after a moment of calculation scurried off into the shrubbery.

Our instrument says the temperature fell to -10.9 last night. Neither the milkman nor the guy who delivers the morning paper made it to the door.

I took a tape out this morning and measured the depth of the snow. It's just a smidgeon under 6 inches. And since it's still falling that's going to increase. The birdbath outside the window- the one that yielded a moonlike disc of ice yesterday- is now topped by what looks like an iced cake.
