Low-Fat

I eat a low-fat diet. I didn't plan to, I just sort of drifted into it, imitating Ailz, I guess. And having drifted into it, I can't get back.

Not that I want to.

We went to Hollingworth Lake the other day- a local beauty spot- and the smell of deep-frying from the fast food cafe by the car park made us turn tail and run. Once it would have been "Hey, Ailz, fancy a bag of chips," and now it's, "Gaah, get me out of here, I feel sick."

Huh. I eat a fairly low-fat diet too, which we did sort of plan several years ago... but generally those fast food smells still attract me!

I used to eat fried food all the time, now I just can't take it. I had a couple of fried onion rings yesterday and they were horrid.

I wonder if we Americans have a greater predilection for fried foods. We fry an awful lot of things. A booth down here at the Puyallup Fair was even selling fried candy bars.

I don't think your predilection could be any greater than ours.

The Chip shop (in which everything on the menu is deep-fried) has been a British institution since sometime back in the 19th century.

Deep fried candy-bars- yuk. But I'm told , on reliable information, that they're considered a delicacy in Scotland.

It's amazing how fast your body adjusts to the absence of fried food, and how quickly the smell turns from "Yum!" to "Ick!". I used to love chips ... now they mostly just taste like oil.

I had some fries today. They actually tasted pretty foul. I polished them off out of force of habit and because the crunchiness complemented the meal I was eating them with.
