Forever

In Robert Browning's tremendous poem A Grammarian's Funeral an early renaissance scholar chooses unremitting labour of the least glamorous kind over worldly reward and pleasure because it's worth doing and why grudge the sacrifice of a single, brief human lifespan when "Man has forever"? It's an invigorating doctrine. But one I'd only recommend if I believed it to be true- which I do.
