Bilocating

People keep quitting LJ. It's a regular drip drip drip. Some are now on DW and some have withdrawn to FB (whither I refuse to follow them).  I have chosen- as have many others- to bilocate. DW feels safer and cosier- with its cottage industry ethos- but LJ is still where (what's left of) the action is- and is where I still have most of my conversations.

DW is a little bit clunky. Where LJ automatically resizes images to fit the format DW expects you to do it for yourself. I spent a good while yesterday trying to figure out how to stop my pictures swamping and over-lapping their frame. The upside is I've learned a new skill..

More people should learn that skill. I can't tell you how many times my message page is overtaken by a HUGE picture.

Is the solution to set the height and width manually in the HTML code, or is there an easier/simpler way?

When you insert an image in a post you can actually choose the width and height - just set one of them and the other will adjust automatically to retain the aspect ratio.
