Spring Fever

Matthew spent most of yesterday stripping dead wood out of the hedges that surround our fields. Now we can see clearly into the neighbour's fields. He has alpacas in one and chickens in another- and a lot of machinery parked up- so that's what we hear making all the noise. Most of what came out was holly and we're going to replant with hawthorn.

I've gone spring crazy and given Matthew a long list of things to do to smarten up the estate. Renewing the hedges is just the start of it. We've let the property run down and now's the time to protect our investment think about the next forty years.

Will this reduce the risk of wildfires?

Wildfires are really not a problem here. Far too damp...

Good stewardship and protecting your investment are often synonyms.

Yes, that's true.

Excellent! Tending to the land is rewarding in so many ways.

Yes, it is.

Mind you, I never thought I'd be playing this particular role, having been a townee all my adult life.
