Peter Preston in the Observer is shrugging his shoulders about Rupert Murdoch's proposed takeover of the whole of of Sky. "So what," he says in so many words, "TV and newspapers are no longer where it's at. The kingmakers are all on the Internet these days. And by the way do you know the Sun has dropped nearly half its readership since 2011 and is losing millions?"

And I was thinking, "Sure, when was the last time I took any notice of any Murdoch organ?  I get my current affairs from the Guardian, Mail and Telegraph and various online sites but I haven't read the Times since it disappeared behind its firewall. Nothing that Murdoch owns impinges any longer. So let him enlarge his crumbling empire if he likes...
