Cabbage!

Horses like cabbage. They like carrots better but cabbage will do very nicely.

They were gathered at the gate by the water butts because they'd seen Stefka drive up and cars mean food....

We'd had the cabbage for about three months- and had been working round it because- well- it's cabbage. We were explaining this to my mother afterwards and she said, plaintively, "I like cabbage." She's in a very plaintive mood this morning.

The knife that you just about see under the cabbage is very sharp - I now have a plaster on my hand where I cut myself with it. The greedy horse is Snowy, she likes to keep the others away when food is in the offing

I do like that photo. Even more than cabbage! :)

Thanks.

I can eat cabbage, but I can't get excited about it.

Red cabbage, cooked with apples and a bit of bacon. :)

Yes, Ok, I know it can be made interesting...

I think I had to eat too much boiled cabbage back in the 1950s

Wonderful photo. Horses prefer apples over carrots and they sweeten their breath. Cabbage, on the other hand...

Thanks.

We've given them apples too but...carrots are cheaper...

Do you have an apple tree anywhere nearby? Windfall apples are just fine or even slightly buggy ones.
:)

We have apple trees of our own- but the crop was very poor this year and if there were any windfalls I imagine the horses will have found them already.

Horse also tend to rather like radishes, dry pasta, and the husks and stems from ears of corn.
