Going Through Cupboards

My mother took pottery classes in the 90s. She kept at it for several seasons and became quite skilful; so skilful she could have worked professionally if she'd wanted to.  Her better, later pieces- mainly animal figurines- are on display but I think she kept everything she ever made. The cupboard I've started sorting through has some of the earlier, clumsier efforts...

In the same cupboard is a small bag of wheat. Ailz bought it to stuff a cushion- and never followed through. I propose taking it down to the field and broadcasting it. If it grows it grows and that'll be nice and if it doesn't something will eat it- and that'll be nice too.

I bought it to make a heat cushion - not stuff a cushion!!!

Yes, but it would have gone inside the cushion cover- so same thing really.

I have some barley left-over from when I had my hens... That would probably work as well, and I'm probably getting to the age where my body would appreciate having something like that handy! (Mainly lower back pain - but to be honest, having an oblong heat pad to rest my feet on on cold winter mornings? Doesn't sound too bad either...)

-And then I can scatter the rest in the back of the garden where I only mow the lawn on a yearly basis... Barley is pretty!

You should put it in a freezer for a month to kill off any germs.

Nice tip!

I think I'll do it. After all, it's such a small project, so it can't take more than a few minutes to sew up a little cushion.

Right, I'm off to the attic to find a suitable piece of fabric!
