A Conversation About Rupert Murdoch

A: I see Rupert Murdoch wants to acquire the whole of Sky. Isn't that terrible!

B: He's an old man. Allow him his little whims. He'll be dead soon. Then his empire will collapse- as empires do.

A: Still it's sad.

B: How so?

A: The neediness. The colossal and unremitting neediness...

If that becomes a story like the German Leo Kirch empire, then "Goodbye!" and off into the bunker until the end of days...

I think Murdoch is just too powerful and well-connected for the collapse to happen in his lifetime, but I don't expect his empire to outlive him for very long.

Leo Kirch's media empire also kept justice busy even years after his death. He worked so hard on erecting this and getting it together... And in the end, it got splintered and broken again. He could even witness this as he still was alive.

Of course I would be happy for Murdoch to live to see his empire fall apart. It would be good for his soul, I think.

Good in the meaning of "What did you fucking fucker think? That you would live forever and all days? That everything would be like as perfect as you designed it, forever?".

Yeah, that sort of thing...

Andrew Carnegie had things to day about uber wealthy people who tried to hang on to their wealth and take it all with them, did he not?

He did.

I have a soft spot for Carnegie.

Me too as he funded himself's doctoral research!
