Gazing Across The Thames
The lifesize statue of Admiral Nelson outside the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich gazes across the river towards the towers of Canary Wharf.

That's a wonderful photo. And I like the statue too.
Much nicer than the stature of the Queen Mother that recently popped up in Poundbury, gazing down regally upon the Waitrose car park.

Nelson doesn't have a plinth- he's on our level- which is rather nice.
I want to visit Poundbury. I've read a lot about it- and I have a soft spot for follies.

And I know what he's thinking:
"There goes the neighborhood."

A great photo! I wonder what dear old Nelson would think of modern London?

Thanks.
Who knows? But if he landed in the area where this statue stands he'd recognise most of the buildings around him.

I'm wondering why I've never noticed that statue. We usually walk along the Thames to Greenwich when we visit London. I must look out for it next time I'm there.

It's tucked in alongside The Trafalgar public house- and not very prominent. It may even be quite a new addition to the landscape.
