I wouldn't find anything bad with such theories if they just attached an explanation saying "this is roughly an simplified version of what reality really is; the structures in reality have different names and are harder to see - and that's their names they got in the reality: ...", but those take themselves way too serious and through that they quickly become opium of the people - just another horror story to scare and to entertain, but not to get humans back closer to their own reality and give them something into their hands how they can turn the reality into a less bleak place to live.
