Following On From Yesterday

Omar Bakri Mohammed- Islamic firebrand and loudmouth- has buggered off to Lebanon rather than risk being arrested here in Britain on a charge of treason. Fine. But just because he's no longer under our noses doesn't mean that he'll no longer be a risk and a nuisance. In the age of the internet and EasyJet travel a person's geographical location matters very little. Bakri Mohammed can still access us and his British followers can still access him. The change is purely cosmetic.

Peter Preston was saying yesterday that we're not laughing enough at the preachers of Jihad. We should be using humour as a weapon to deflate them. I guess the fear of being thought racist is what holds us back. But Omar Bakri- a very fat man who waddles- is surely good for a laugh. And then there's that other guy with the glass eye and the hook. And what about the robes and turbans? They're there to suggest spiritual authority- just like the Archbishop of Canterbury's mitre or the Pope's white frock. I think it's time we put aside our scruples and pointed out how silly they look.

all well and good... and I tottally agree... but you know as soon as ppl do they will get a fatwa on their head.. and open target for all the other nutters...

*sigh*.. tantamount to religious bully boy tactics...

But I guess all of us- the whole of British society- have got a fatwa hanging over us right now.

As we know who these people are surely the police MI5 etc., keep a close eye on them. I suppose it could be that they are busy attracting our attention so that others aren't noticed.

That's possible I suppose.

However it works, I reckon the ones in the public eye are the least of our worries.

The problem is that there's no sure-fire way to keep out suicide bombers. None of these silly looking old men seem to be up for the job - why is it always the young that are sent to die?

Ah, that does my heart good.....

Yes!!! I've felt that it's high time someone pointed out that the bombers are just nasty overgrown preschoolers holding their breaths until they turn blue, except they're older than preschoolers and they're blowing themselves up, along with anyone near them.

A bit of ridiculing their rhetoric might be nice, too. I mean, everyone jumped on George Bush for using "crusade" in its metaphoric sense, but it's okay for these bozos to insert "God willing" or "with the help of God" three times in every sentence? (They wouldn't recognize God if s/he smote them upside the head.) There ought to be some really good parody material here, along the lines of the stuff mocking the Iraqi Information Minister.

al-Quaida communiques are full of the most unbelievable pseudo-Koranic shit. These guys do actually think and talk like the Hollywood sheiks and sultans of time long past. It's almost beyond parody.

Scientologists with turbans and Kashkolnikovs. Now there's an unsettling thought...

Scary- very scary indeed.....

"But Omar Bakri- a very fat man who waddles- is surely good for a laugh."

more than that, he's good for being pointed out as a hypocrite, since physical fitness and temperance (with food as well as everything else) are principal values in islam.
