Wildflower Garden

This is my wildflower garden.

It used to be a bonfire site. Then I found a packet of wildflower seeds lying around and emptied them into the scorched earth. later I added grass seed. I wasn't expecting anything quite so fine.

I believe the spectacular yellow flowers are evening primrose...

Lovely!

I knew Rosebay Willowherb liked old bonfire sites, but I didn't realise Evening Primrose was quite so enthusiastic about scorched earth... I shall have to remember that.

The evening primrose really took me by surprise. I don't know quite what I expected from my seed packet but certainly nothing quite so flamboyant.

One of the things that struck me most about the English countryside was the many kinds of flowers, and their many colors. Here in Florida we don't get so many.

I suppose we have a climate that encourages them.

That was brilliant to throw the seeds on the burnt earth. Burning makes for a more fertile ground and those colours are wonderful! What are the purply violet flowers?

I believe they're rose bay willow herb.

You got a different kind of fire out of the earth.
