Another Light Entertainment Paedophile

The BBC might as well gather up all the historic light entertainment shows it hasn't already wiped and dump them in the North Sea because what with Saville and Harris and- now- Clement Freud- there's very little there they'll ever be able to broadcast again...

My childhood is being erased piece by piece. It's like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - but with paedophiles!

I used to be very fond of Just A Minute- with Freud, Nimmo and The great Kenneth Williams as its regulars.

Yes, and Peter Jones was the fourth of the classic set, if I recall, who later found fame as the voice of the Book in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I'd forgotten him.

Before either of these incarnations he was, I believe, in some sort of a double act with Peter Ustinov.

I also used to enjoy Just a Minute in those days, though I can't stand it now. I well remember Kenneth Williams' outraged cry of, "He's listing again!" when Freud started on one of his favourite tactics.

So disappointing to discover that all was not actually well with Freud's private life. :(

Radio comedy was a staple of my childhood and youth but I hardly ever listen to it now.

I love Kenneth Williams.

The fact that I used one of Freud's kid's books as a reader with my beloved disabled kids now make me feel unclean. :o(

It was news to me that he'd written childrens' books. I'll now try and forget about it- though I probably won't succeeed.

Yeah, he wrote a small number of rather good ones so I'm now feeling much the same way. :o(

Apparently it's not 2016, it's 1984.
