There is something very pleasing about these brush strokes with a not-too-wet brush; the texture of the paper is really allowed to become a feature. I like that a lot; I always tend to use water colours in a very "watery" way, which means I completely lose the texture of the paper.
Also, I'm rather in love with the top-right corner; the different shades of blues and the different textures are really drawing me in, perhaps because it is such a counterpoint to the orange-yellow circle.
That top right corner was done with a dryish brush and paint straight from the tube. I love the many different textures and effects you can get with water colours- from a crusty scratchiness to the faintest stain.
