The Work Room

I have moved my computer into the big central bedroom- formerly the Temple, now the Work room. There it is, on the horizon, beyond the village of Scyldvik.

Ailz and I will be working together. See how pleased she is.

She says she she used to think I was quiet. She hadn't realised how much I talk to myself.

Neither had I.

This is the room in the house most likely to be haunted. Alice used to swear (in the  days when it was her bedroom) that there was something in residence in the  big corner cupboard. And just the other night Ailz's computer turned itself on all by itself.

Don't look at the stuff on the floor. We're going to pick it all up- honest we are.

so is joe going in his old room or my old room? doesn't that leave one room over that one of u could still work in?

and totally u should take more pictures of the village and like- put them in a permanent link that cracker the lego reverend does- then people can look at all these cool pictures of skellingbobs and such and it'd be lovely lovely happy happy torture chambers and vampires etc...

Joe's going in your old room.

The other room has become a walk-in wardrobe.

Also- ahem- it contains a bike.

I don't know. I haven't even thought about it.

Perhaps I should

oh, clean floors in rooms make me feel lost in the wide open space.

Ailz looks totally pleased! In fact I think she looks a little bit smug, like this is what she's been trying to do for years!

Haunted. Hm...how interesting. Was the 'something' that lived in the closet scary, or not so much?

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Alice put up with it, so I suppose it couldn't have been that scary.

One night- this was after she'd moved out and was just visiting- she insisted that someone had walked into the room in the dead of night and stood looking at her.

This doesn't have anything to do with you post, but I was just wondering if you might happened have any familiarity with this place: http://www.rampantscotland.com/visit/blvisitmaryking.htm

A couple of posts (which are kind of inconvenient to link to) people have made about their experience in the basement area has suddenly made me very curious.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, I've watched a TV documentary about it.

The room where the little girl appears has been filled with toys. It's really rather touching.

Now, if a ghost were to go to the trouble to turn on a computer (no easy feat if it's like mine, which requires a strong push on a button), why wouldn't he type a little something?

Wouldn't that be nifty?

"Man, it's hot down here!" or "Who are you people? Get out of my bedroom!"

Maybe you could leave the ghost a list of instructions on how to use Word.

If he can push that button, he can type. It doesn't take nearly as much strength.

Assuming he has some kind of fingers.

But how else could he have turned on Ailz's computer?

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
There have been stories about strange images appearing on untuned TV sets- I wonder if there are comparable stories about computers? I'm not aware of any.

Ghosts have an affinity with electricity- you'd think they'd have mastered computing by now.

But then again they don't seem to have the strength for any sort of sustained affort. They throw everything into one effect- an appearance, a rapping on a bed-head, and that exhausts them for the evening.

[identity profile] jackiejj.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see how a ghost could turn on my computer without pressing hard on that button, no matter how much energy he had.

What's the hardest thing a ghost can do? I guess turning lights on. Does that involve the light switch, or is it just a jolt of energy that heats up the filaments? If that's the case, then how is the light turned back off?

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ghosts do seem to be able to manage simple physical tasks- turning door knobs, throwing plates across the room- that sort of thing.

How they do it is another matter entirely.....

[identity profile] creakiness.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw something about a guy who who point a video camera towards a TV, with the cameras output connected up to the same TV creating a sort of hall of mirrors effect, and then record it. He would find images (one of a face) on the tape when he went through it frame by frame.

Why do home exercise machines always transform into convenient coat racks? We all have such healthy coats. Wait, that didn't come out right.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Woof woof.

Mysterious, ain't it.....

Good morning, Ailz!

My, you look pleased that Tony (Muttering Tony) is joining you in your study!

There's just so much stuff. We're always having clear-outs, but the place never seems to get any less cluttered.

Yes, dressing-gown is correct.

So what do you call them?

[identity profile] scathedobsidian.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
The village is so freaking cool.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, thanks.

[identity profile] halfmoon-mollie.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
just plain 'robes' in the house I grew up in.

My problem isn't clutter on the floor, it's BOOKS. Books I can't bear to get rid of because I loved them so much when I read them, books I have tucked aside so I can read them when I get time...if I had my own house I could fill a room with books.

don't pick up the clutter on OUR account.

(grin)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
We too have rather a lot of books.

Every so often we weed the shelves- but it's no good- new books keep arriving to fill the spaces.

haunted cupboard

[identity profile] alice-g.livejournal.com 2005-07-22 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
that cupboard is beyond haunted . Don't u remember i was laying on my bed reading abook. I wasn't going to sleep as iot was probably early evening. I was certainly not asleep. The cupboard was locked by that little thing at the bottom and all of a sudden it was like someone was inside and did one great big push against the door to get out. The door styed closed but physically moved outward except down the bottom and it was locked. Then i ran out screaming and you tried to tell me it was air from the chimney breast. However there is no breeze or holes in that cupboard for it tobe possible for air to come from the chimney brest.

Once in that room my poster of Bros's turned evil and the biys eyes went red! On closer inspection it turned out Miss sid had put red pins in the pupils. Very scary.

I though Ails heard a party in there once?

I also used to hear footsteps in there. once in a storm i was convinced one of the boys had sneeked in to try and scare me, but they totally denied t. But i heard the door go and heard the steps. Perhaps yopu should ring most haunted? x

I love Most Haunted.

I'd forgotten the details of the haunting. Thanks for reminding me. That whole room got to be very "animated" when we were using it as a Wiccan temple, but things have quietened down since.
