Rain, Rain...

We've had a lot of rain. The spring by the side of the house- that only appears after heavy rain- is bubbling up. The donkey house (which hasn't had a donkey in it for at least 40 years) is flooded.

We called in the man from Dyno-rod. He plunged and jetted and rodded and couldn't find where the drain went. We explored the donkey house and found a secondary drain that seems to be linked to the first but that didn't seem to go anywhere either. The likelihood is that these drains aren't  drains at all but soakaways- which can't be expected to function properly when the ground is waterlogged.

Pretty soggy here in north Kent too- luckily we're on top of the downs!

We're high up too. I don't believe the house is in any danger. The donkey house is at the bottom of the drive with streams coming at it from two directions.

And after the rain it looks like a winter storm is afoot/
