Funny Old Weather

I saw Orion last night- for the first time this winter. It's not that I haven't been looking, it's that whenever I have looked there have been clouds in the way.

My mother complained this morning about the sun getting in her eyes through an east facing window- and I had to draw the curtains against it. This is another first: mornings this winter have been as cloudy as the nights.

I suppose all this relates to the high temperatures we've been suffering/enjoying. Records have been broken for the warmest December night and the warmest December day.

It's the same here in Denmark. Daffodils are coming up in my garden while the last roses are still (barely) blooming.

It's the same we have. From time to time it snows, but it melts, and it is wet and warm.

And way down here in southern Spain, people are still on the beaches. I think we had a few chillier days back in November...

On a related note I looked at the Reuters photo gallery from Syria and was struck by how clear the night skies are in some of the pictures. There are no commercial flights over the area at present and,I wonder if that is why.
