I've written in the past about loving books as physical objects, but it can't go very deep because I've just read all twelve of Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins novels on an e-reader- and now Ailz has bought me a Kindle Fire and I'm downloading texts for it. Thus far I've downloaded Swedenborg's Heaven and Hell (only 79p) and David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks. I'll be putting the Kindle in the pocket of my coat this afternoon when we take my mother to sit around in a hospital waiting room for hours for the bi-monthly check on her eyes.

There's a lot to be said for carrying not one book but a whole library around with you.

You love to read! All you know now is that it doesn't matter whether it shows up on a papyrus, a page, or a monitor. The word is the thing.

I love physical books, but one of the good things that happened during the Peace Corps fiasco is that I bought myself a Kindle, and I've got to say, I like it because of just how many books and texts and whatnot it can hold.

I've filled mine with all sorts of things, especially lots of free stuff from www.archive.org.

I'm not much of a one for old friends. I rarely read a book more than once.

I love archive.org. All sorts of old texts that libraries have scanned in and made available in multiple electronic formats. It's awesome.
