I became vigilant about unwanted mail. I would mark it "return to sender" but a lot of it still came regardless. One customer service person I called said "write 'return to sender' in a thick market and use a highlighter around the edges" and that worked. Some places I called seemed to ignore it. I figured out a fake address, a house number that did not exist, as a solution to mail that doesn't stop, but I figured that would be too mean for the postal service.
One place I lived at... a prior occupant had Scientology mailings still arriving. Those never stopped LOL.
The place we live at now, the previous owner had passed away. A few years after we moved in, a Christmas card arrived for him. That was sad.
