"They Got The Guns, But We Got The Numbers..." Or Do We?

Gary Yonge phrased it very neatly in the Guardian this morning: Corbyn's victory has "energised the alienated and alienated the establishment."

I identify as one of the "alienated who have been energised". Ailz is another.  Much now depends on just how many of us there are.

That is so true. I am very definitely energized and "alienated" . Unfortunately my cousin isn't, and yet my brother certainly is after years of batting for the blues until retirement.

It's one of the things that gripes me about living down her- almost everybody you meet is a tory. We were in a pub the other day listening to two old blokes at the next table discussing the world in terms of what the Mail says.

I'm not sure Jeremy Corbyn is the right leader if Labour wants to win the next election. However, if Labour wants to be "Labour", he seems the right choice.

(I'm biased, though, because I really like the guy. I used to live across the street from him and he would invite me over for a cuppa every now and then. I know that's not politically relevant, but he really is a nice neighbour.)

Who knows what the political landscape is going to look like in 4 years time. If things stay as they are then Corbyn will be unelectable- but things way happen between now and then to utterly discredit the conservative world view.

It's nice to know he's a decent bloke.

Denmark just had 4 years with a so-called socialdemocratic government that cut back welfare, tightened immigration rules and eased taxes for the wealthy. I prefer my socialists to be, well, socialist!

I do hope there can be a political space for people who follow their ideals. And are open about what their ideas for society are.

And yeah, he's a good neighbour. Even though I was a migrant of convenience! (Well, I was, wasn't I? I moved to another country because I'd fallen in love with a bloke and thougt I could easily get a job there. Heck, I even dared use the NHS! Sorry, straying off-topic here, but really... Why the *bleeb* is "migrant" such a bad word? I've been a migrant three times in my life, to France, UK and USA. All three places welcomed me.)

Whether I stay energised depends on how mad Corbyn's policies get.

I think Corbyn's policies will be moderated by those around him.

Hopefully, a lot. :-)
