Unexpected Gift

I hadn't worn my Wellingtons for months so I shook them out to make sure there wasn't a mouse  curled up, sleeping or deceased, in one of the toes- and out fell a bright, new-minted, fivepence coin.

This reminds me of an old Dennis Norden joke, back in the old day of My Word. He said that he couldn't understand the people who had a big win the Pools and said that the money wouldn't change their life. He said that unexpectedly finding sixpence down the side of the sofa changed his. :)
