Malware

Every few days I find myself having to fight off an attack of malware. I take executive action, hose down the lobby and all is well again. Then the attack resumes.

I'm beginning to think (to fear) that the source of the recurrent infection is somewhere within LJ. After all, this is where I mostly spend my time. Ailz- who doesn't visit LJ very much- says the only time she's had a malware attack was after answering a comment on LJ. The evidence isn't strong enough to lead to a conviction, but it's persuasive.

What virus checker do you use? I've never had a problem with malware (touch woood!) and I visit LJ every day at least once and comment on posts and reply to comments. Unless you have a particular LJ friend who has somehow had their account infiltrated?

That made me instinctively check my flies - files! But, like heleninwales, I've never had this problem. McAfee seems to do the job.

I've not had a problem with malware (touch wood!) - not that Norton has informed me, anyway - but all the spam in my inbox seems to come via LJ.

We've downloaded a more advanced malware killer. It seems to have done the job (touch wood).

This is a new experience for me. Suddenly nasty little advertisements were popping up all over- faster than I could shut them down. We seem to have dealt with the problem but it's knocked my confidence a bit.

I've never had a problem with LJ and I practically live here. My account is a permanent one however and locked down so nothing can ge through except my friends and so far so good.
