Some politicians are principled- lets be clear about this- but I never thought Jack Straw was one of them. Malcom Rifkind, I must confess, I had forgotten all about.

It's good for the health of our parliamentary democracy that every so often one or two policy makers should be dragged out of their gothic monkey house and shot. I can't say it keeps the others honest, because the scandals never stop coming- but I imagine it prevents the corruption from getting entirely out of hand.

They were detailing his achievements on the lunchtime news.

First he unrolled the poll tax in Scotland.

Then he oversaw the privatization of the railways...

I didn't say I agreed with his politics!

Quite the reverse.

There applies the rule "be fearful of us - if you do nonsense, we come to get you!"

I just have a hard time believing that there are STILL politicians who will sit in a room with somebody they don't know intimately and discuss stuff like that. Do they just get so blinded by their own ego that they think it won't happen to them?
