The snow we were running from nearly caught up with us in Marlborough but we took off again and it wasn't till this morning that it cornered us. It didn't hang around for long and it hasn't settled. This was the first snow this corner of Kent has seen since we moved down here 21 months ago.

There's a pheasant in the front garden. If it has any sense (which I know it hasn't) it would stay here where nobody's going to shoot it.

Marlborough downs is not a good place to be if the weather closes down- Dickens even wrote about it!

I like Marlborough. It's a very handsome town- and of course Avebury is just down the road.

It must be turning 64 that did it. You said, on January 20th, that it was snowing, lightly, and it was the first you'd seen.
