I did my Big Garden Birdwatch for the RSPB at lunchtime and scored-

4 Blackbirds
1 Blue Tit
1 Dunnock
2 Great Tits
4 Long-tailed Tits
1 Magpie
1 Robin
1 Wood Pigeon

5 Parakeets (pesky foreigners, coming over here etc etc)

I should have done the count first thing. That way I might well have got more birds- including some woodpeckers.

They make a bit of a racket, bless them. They look even more unlikely in the winter, though. I sometimes wonder if their lurid colour makes the greenfinches jealous.
