Well, obviously Prince Andrew had no sexual contact with any of Jeffrey Epstein's young houseguests because he's denied it and a member of the Royal Family wouldn't lie, but he must have wondered what they were all doing there. Perhaps he thought Epstein had lots of nieces.

I really wonder what the Queen must be thinking. Appalled and disgusted possibly doesn't come close. OK, I'm not saying he is guilty, but the fact he was at that party, and with that man who did what he did...urgh.

It's not inconceivable that he had no freaking idea and is subject to the same level of doubt about his right to raise suspicions as the rest of us are. But one would think he had minders who'd have more of a clue.

Who knows. I suspect she's seen it all before. She's an aristocrat of the old school, a great grand daughter of Edward VII and a niece of Edward VIII. In her world the men are expected to go off and "play". I suspect she's had to exercise considerable tolerance with Philip.

I am reserving judgement on this. Unfortunately, that sort of man often doesn't question whether young women really want to have sex with them because they always see themselves as God's gift. In his defence, 17 is of legal age here, so I'm prepared to absolve him of knowingly having sex with an under-age girl because here she wouldn't be.

I agree with your final point. A man who goes to bed with a 17 year old girl may be a cad and a sleaze but he's not a paedophile.

I too am reserving judgement (although as you know, I'm a republican and hold no brief for Lizzie Windsor and her unspeakable brood) as this case is a civil case and one the US criminal courts are clearly loathe to touch with a bargepole.

This has the potential to become the most enormous scandal- because Prince Andrew was only one of many power brokers to accept Epstein's hospitality- but perhaps they'll manage to keep the lid on it.

My friend Judy is worried that Bill Clinton's involvement

I have no use for them. They're both capable pols, for what that's worth, but they surround themselves with such horrid people and to my mind should not be entrusted with command of the military.
