Bojo Versus The Presumption Of Innocence

Boris Johnson wants to suspend one of the cornerstones of British liberty in the case of young persons returning from Syria- and treat them as guilty until proved otherwise.

Please, everyone, remember this when the conniving, amoral, cynical, power-crazed little shit makes his bid to become prime minister of the UK.

Add in the secret courts, and attendant inability to report on such proceedings.. not to mention nigh omnipresent online surveillance.

Trouble is, I can't tell much difference between the Conservative, "New" Labour, and the LibDems - all are entirely happy with such wretchedness, as well as other social wretchedness like the rise of workfare and punitive sanctions under capricious justifications.

I'm out of love with all the political parties as, it seems, are most of the population. It's not a happy situation to have arisen in a so-called democracy.

Agreed , where is there any sanity in all this utter madness and wretched dislike of those less able to defend themselves against such punitive measures?

Pesky thing, "evidence", isn't it?

Terribly inconvenient. I mean a decent chap- like Johnson, for instance- can smell a wrong'un at a distance. Never fails. So who needs proof.

That's when a bill of rights comes in handy.

Yes, indeed.

(Sorry for the userpic, but really... It's called for, isn't it?)

A fair trial is something the US dispensed with many years ago now, and I'm hardly surprised that large sections of Europe seem inclined to follow that worrying trend.

This is the kind of totalitarianism that Orwell warned us about. I love the icon BTW.

The people who should be the guardians of our liberties are only too ready to reel them in.

I have the feeling Boris is out-faraging Farage - but I should really presume Farage innocent until proven guilty on that score.

Boris wants the top job soooo badly.

This is where the cult of Celebrity gets you. People will vote for that moron because he is entertaining.

And that's the truth.

He makes me think of Berlusconi- same combination of charisma, self-love and utter lack of principle.

In the end though, darling Sylvio was a self seeking bufoon who go away with it for a while.

People need not to be fooled by Bojo's 'I'm an amiable idiot' posturing. He isn't and he's truly dangerous.

I do think that British citizens who go there without seeking permission first should be looked upon with *suspicion*...

... but, that isn't the same as guilt.
