Tea Pot

Every morning my mother discovers that the tea pot handle is too hot to hold and reaches in her pocket for a bunch of tissue to wrap around it- at which point I intervene and show her how the padded tea pot cosy makes a much better mitt.

Every morning this plays out as if it had never happened before.

I sometimes think that caring for my mother is like caring for a toddler. the difference being that toddlers learn from their experience.

I'm glad she has you.

Thanks.

It is very much like caring for a toddler. Except they're mum or dad and it affects us in ways a child's behaviour wouldn't.

That's right.

It was very hot here yesterday, and something happened to the internet where My Favorite Pilgrim lives. It started running EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. She called me up almost in tears. She couldn't read her email.

Unable to really do anything about it, I clicked the "if you have a slow connection, try the Basic version", which is identical to the regular version, except without all of the pretty pictures.

She was completely unable to figure out how to work it. It looked different, and this difference was enough to totally confuse her.

I put back her regular email, and called Maintenance and told them that they HAD to do something about the internet. She also couldn't figure out how to tell them what was wrong.
