We've settled it. The critter that's been making off with the hanging feeder is  a crow. Ailz caught in in the act this morning. I took a peek through the curtains and there it was, strutting round the patio like Captain Bligh on his quarterdeck.

Springwatch last night had statistics on species that are declining and species that are growing in numbers. I forget the figures (my brain is like a colander where numbers are concerned) but one of the species that's doing spectacularly well is the Greater Spotted Woodpecker. As if in confirmation we had three of them at the feeders this morning- mother father and chick.

Corvids are smart smart smart. Best bet is to give him/her something else to eat/play with. Maybe some cracked corn, etc.

You reckon he'll ignore the feeder if there's something else there to engage him? I have my doubts. I think he'll take both :)
