Free Will And Predestination.

Living a life is like driving a bus: the route is laid out in advance but it's up to you whether or not you annoy your passengers and other road users.

What if I just yank the wheel real hard to the left?

Try it and see?

This is certainly a deal less cynical than the 'shit sandwich' analogy! :o)

I like to look on the bright side...

I never said it did. Also it makes people very unhappy.

I like it!

I'm afraid I got my personal theology from the old 60s movie "Jason and the Argonauts". The gods are all up there, basically, playing a sort of chess game with our lives. They put forth the opportunities for us, and we either take them or not. They also put forth the obstacles, which we either overcome or not. They have a plan, but it isn't just one grand plan, because there are many gods, and each of them has a plan. But we all have free will, so we can either play along, or not.

Yes, I go along with that. Pretty much.

It's a little embarrassing... I can't tell you how many times I have had to write about my personal theology here at school, and how it was developed.

Free will as much as our genes will allow us.
